My name is Lily. I live in Gainesville, Florida. I am a Kindergarten teacher, mother, and a runner. I find it strange to say that I am a runner but I am. I actually hated running as a child, as a teenager, throughout my twenties, and most of my thirties. I didn't start running until 2008. I started out just running on a treadmill as part of an exercise plan to lose weight. In 2008, I entered and won a "biggest loser" inspired contest at the local YMCA. I dropped 50 pounds during my weight loss journey. Since I ran so much during the contest, I decided to sign up for my first 5K that same year. I guess I got hooked because I progressively strived to complete longer races and make my goals harder. In 2009, I ran my first 10K. Unfortunately, in 2010 I broke a bone in my foot running with kids at work in the wrong shoes so I didn't run any races that year. However, I did begin training at the end of that year for my first half marathon. In 2011, I ran my first half marathon. It was the Disney Princess. I loved it! I entered a contest and won an entry into the 2013 Disney World Marathon. That was my first (and probably my last) full marathon. I discovered that I am only half crazy!! I love to run half marathons and that seems to be the perfect distance for me! This year, I ran 12 of them. I hope to continue to inspire others to incorporate running into their lives. That is why I began this blog. I hope you enjoy reading it!
